Client: Henry Rothenberg
Skill: Chief Meteorologist

The thought of severe weather was something that terrified Henry as a child. But, at six years old his cousin took the time to explain a thunderstorm to him and why it was so loud. They day was the beginning of what has become a passion and career for Henry…weather!

Born and raised in Germantown, TN, a suburb of Memphis, Henry got an early foot in the door as an intern in high school at the local CBS affiliate. During his junior year at the University of Missouri, he was hired for his first on-air job at KMIZ-TV, the ABC affiliate in Columbia, MO. From there Henry went on to work at television stations in St. Louis, MO and Memphis, TN.

Aside from the television side of weather, Henry is also an experienced storm chaser.

Henry’s love for weather has awarded him with several wonderful opportunities. In 2006, while at WPTY-TV in Memphis, TN, he was sent to design, launch, and anchor weather on sister station KION-TV’s new morning show in Monterey, CA. In 2009, he was honored with the Mid-South Regional Emmy nomination for “Best Weathercast”. Henry is also a member of the National Weather Association.

Henry was fortunate to have so many people take the time to help him get to where he is today. He has never forgotten this and is a big believer in “paying it forward.” Since arriving at WACH Fox in 2010, he created a program called SkyWACH Weather School which has him speaking to schools and civic groups across the Midlands.

Aside from weather, Henry is also a board member and Communications Chairman for the Palmetto Chapter of JDRF which focuses on research for finding a cure to Type 1 Diabetes. Henry’s passion for finding a cure to Type 1 Diabetes comes from his father who is Type 1 diabetic.

When he’s not working or chasing tornados, Henry can be found out-and-about in the community with his rescued four legged pal Bella, traveling, playing various sports, and spending time with family and friends.
