Position:
9 First Warning Meteorologist on Good Morning Tri State
When did you start working here?
October 15, 2014
Where else have you worked?
I started my career in Champaign, IL at WCIA TV.  After 5 years in my home state and market, my family and I moved to Indianapolis, IN.  There I worked at Fox 59 as the weekend evening meteorologist.
Where did you go to college?
I received my bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL.  I majored in Communications Studies and minored in Broadcast Meteorology.  After that I attended Mississippi State University to finish my meteorology education through their Broadcast Meteorology Program.
What are you most proud of when it comes to your work?
I’m most proud of my engagement with the people in my community.  I love getting involved in local organizations and also doing school talks.  Teachers, I’m talking to you! If you want me to visit your classroom, just ask. I’m also readily available for your weather related questions through social media so never hesitate to ask about the forecast.
What are you most proud of in your own life?
My greatest pride is my daughter, Stella Jane.  She’s a spitting image of me but with the spirit of her father.  She’s made me a stronger person and gives me a sense of pride that all you parents understand.
What do you love about living in the Tri-State?
My family and I are new to the Tri State area so we are still exploring what all there is to offer locally.  But I’m already enjoying the hilly terrain and tree filled views. I grew up in central Illinois where everything is flat, flat and more flat.  So to see a hill and one covered in trees is rather beautiful in my book.
What are your favorite local hangouts/places, sports & cultural institutions?
Get back to me in 6 months and I’m sure I’ll have a long list of places to share!
All-time favorites…
I love prime time television, especially dramas on ABC. Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder are shows I have to catch every week. But due to my sleep schedule everything is watched the next day through DVR. So no spoilers!
Other than 9 On Your Side & WCPO.com…
I get my news from my Twitter feed. If something big is happening in the world, I know it will be there thanks to all the news organizations I follow.
Apps I can’t live without
I can’t live without my RadarScope app. It’s my go to when severe weather strikes and I’m not at work.  I also frequently use my facebook, Twitter, instagram and Timehop apps. But like any parent, there are a few set apps for my toddler.  Watch Disney Junior and PBS kids probably get more use on my phone that I’d like!
