Client: Meghan Danahey
Skill: Meteorologist

I joined the First Warn Storm Team in November 2010. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.A. in English Literature / Education and completed my Masters level coursework in Meteorology through Mississippi State University. I have earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society and the Broadcaster’s Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association. I currently serve as President of the Upstate South Carolina Chapter of the American Meteorological Society. I am an active member with the Charlotte Chapter.

KAUZ-TV in Wichita Falls, Texas / Lawton, Oklahoma was my first stop in television over a decade ago. I spent five years there, the last two as Chief Meteorologist, before trading tornado alley for hurricane alley. I spent the next two years in Fort Myers / Naples, Florida, where I covered everything from waterspouts and wildfires, to a direct hit from Category 3 Hurricane Wilma. I moved back to my hometown of Dallas to do the weather for WFAA-TV on weekend mornings. I then took over regular weekday morning weather duties for our sister station in Austin, KVUE-TV.

My two cats, Siena and Harley, and I transferred to the Charlotte area to be closer to my fiancé, Marcus. We were married in March 2011. We spend lots of time hiking and walking our two rescue pups, Remi and Rooster, around Lake Wylie. We love spending time up in the beautiful Carolina mountains.

One of my favorite community events each year is the Habitat for Humanity Women Build. We’ve got an incredible group of women here in Charlotte committed to help people move out of poverty housing. You should see us turned loose with our hammers on a home-build site! I am also honored to serve on the advisory board of the Women’s Inter-Cultural Exchange and the WIE-Vision 2020 Mentoring Council. I have been a volunteer coach for the First Tee of Charlotte and I have been a long-time volunteer with the PGA.

When I’m not playing golf, I enjoy messing around in the garden and kitchen. I have a passion for cooking! Marcus and I love to travel and are busy dreaming up big trips around the world. I am deeply passionate about animal rescue and the fight against cancer.
