Back home again is how my husband and I would describe our move to the Hoosier state. While I’m not originally from Indianapolis, my husband is and I fell in love with the city a long time ago. We always knew we wanted to raise our family here so we set our sights on getting back, but it took many years to get here.
Moving around is not unfamiliar territory to me. I was born in Dallas, Texas and my father’s job took us to Pennsylvania and then Illinois. After graduating high school from one of the many Chicago suburbs, I was accepted to Indiana University and I couldn’t say no. I majored in Journalism and Gender Studies.
Once I graduated my first job took me all the way to Lincoln, Nebraska where I was a reporter and photographer. I wanted to get closer to home so I moved to Terre Haute and worked at WTHI as a weekend anchor. Then my career took me across state lines to Champaign, Illinois working at WICD as the primary anchor.
This is where my trek back to Indianapolis starts. My husband had a job opportunity he couldn’t turn down. Since our move to Champaign we got married and had twins, which made moving near family a priority. I took the chance with my career and we all moved to Indianapolis. Luckily it didn’t take long before I got the opportunity to work for WISH as the weekend morning anchor and reporter.
Now the challenging part of my life is balancing my work here at WISH with my 2 year old twin boys, which is a full time job in itself, but I’m up for the challenge.
