One winter day in his hometown of suburban St. Louis, Wes looked out over the snow-covered landscape and knew that after 22 inches of snow, there would be no school. He’s been a fan of winter weather events ever since that day. Commenting on his love for winter weather Wes says, “Most people hate snowy forecasts…not me”. And so it was no surprise to family and friends that he went to Saint Louis University and then graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in meteorology.
After graduation, Wes spent some time working with the meteorologists at KTVI and KSDK, both in St. Louis. He is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. In addition, he is a licensed amateur radio operator. He enjoys studying the weather and sharing his interpretation with the viewers. Now with Channel 8 Eyewitness News, Meteorologist Wes Callison believes that his main responsibility is “helping the people of Lincoln prepare for the week’s weather, no matter how good or bad it may be”.
In his spare time, Wes enjoys listening to music of all varieties, catching a flick, or simply spending times with friends. He also enjoys taking his dog, Luna, for walks through Lincoln’s finest parks. Wes says he likes Lincoln, because it reminds him of suburban St. Louis, with less traffic.
